Qantas Frequent Flyer is one of the most loved loyalty programs in Australia. More than 12 million members are being rewarded with Qantas Points across various categories, including travel, financial services, retail, health & wellbeing, food and wine, and small business services.

When it comes to redeeming your Qantas Frequent Flyer points, there are a number of ways, ranging from flights (seats + upgrades), travel insurance (Qantas only), hotel booking, Qantas wine, getting a hire-car, and shopping from a range of retailers via the reward store. For all of these various redemption methods, you can get more or less value of your Qantas points, depending on what you redeem them for.

As a general rule of thumb, redeeming your Qantas Frequent Flyer points for purchasing flight tickets (Economy Class Reward and/or Business Classic Reward) will provide the best value. At the time of writing this article, I found the value of Economy Class Rewards for Domestic flights in Australia to be averaging around ~0.9 cents per point. The redeeming value of Qantas Frequent Flyer points is higher if redeemed for Business Class Rewards and I found them to be averaging around ~1.9 cents per point for Domestic flights in Australia. You can also redeem your Qantas points to get a Jetstar flight ticket, and its redemption value was found to be averaging around ~1.5 cents per point.

Redeeming your Qantas Frequent Flyer points at Qantas Rewards Store will generally give you the least value for your points, unless you get it on a promotion.

On the contrary, if you redeem your loyalty points in the Qantas Rewards store, you will generally get the least value of your points. So getting a new iPad Air (4th Gen, WiFi only, 64GB) from Qantas Rewards Store will cost you 156,340 points. It is currently priced at $899 at the Apple store…
